Yuichi, a middle-aged businessman who has been down on his luck lately, finds himself lost on the road. Unable to call his home or office from an old roadside phone booth, he tries to contact a friend he has not spoken to for years who works at a hospital in the area. His friend talks about meeting a woman that Yuichi knows died that very day 30 years ago, and he is left perplexed. He later calls the number again from work and reaches his friend's mother who tells him that her son died five years ago! The series followed a young woman named Tala, who accidentally unearths a crystal that contained the spirit of the legendary diwata sorceress, Luwalhati, who was imprisoned a hundred years earlier by a devilish being, Harimon. As a promise to Luwalhati, Tala agrees to help her rid the world of evil spirits that, once in the possession or contact of human beings, can bring or unleash corruption and mayhem onto the world. Knowing that kind of fury would lead to Manila, where most of them would blend into the city's large population, Tala decides to leave her Madulom tribe to move into the area, where she would blend into the mix as a normal working girl, working at a shopping mall. She would learn, however, that most of the spirits also have ties to Harimon, who was also set free by a young girl named Zorah. (Tala would later learn that she was her mother, who had abandoned her as a child after she became possessed by Harimon.) Upon learning that Harimon and his band of co-horts (The fierce Super Z, female vampire Kabagona, flamboyant drag queen Terracota and shapeshifter Luminax) have resurfaced to unleash and finish the sinister plans to unveil a more evil being bent on taking over the human world, Tala uses her crystal to transform herself into the gold-and-blue clad super-sexy superheroine Krystala and uses her powers to protect those who are helpless... and to protect the people who are her close friends.

Remake of Kin-Dza-Dza (1986) Kin-Dza-Dza is something like an "advanced cyberpunk film". It's a lot about people and social structures which on the planet of "Pluke" of course have many parallels to our society. It's a very funny movie, but it's also a melancholic movie with great philosophical sense. This scene by scene remake of the original classic adds nothing new, but loses a whole lot in the animation. The characters, dialogue, sound effects and whole alien planet are still interchangeably similar to the original masterpiece, but what used to be a surrealistic satirical parody of our own society, is here drawn into something more reminiscent of the old Alf cartoons. As it's exactly identical to the original, it's still a great story, and fans of the original will definitely enjoy a revisit to the wonderful desert planet of Pluke, but those who are unfamiliar with the story, are much better off seeking out the original. (At the current date, it's available on youtube in its entirety.)

During the 1974 soccer world cup in West Germany the East German team scores a historic win over arch-enemy West Germany by a goal scored by Jôrgen Sparwasser, who became a national hero for it. So much about the historic situation. This goal marks the pivotal moment of the story. It is the moment that the protagonist, Jenny, was conceived. Her mother had been on a school excursion to Berlin and the bus broke down during transit through East Germany. She was accidentally left behind when the bus continued the journey. She met Jenny's father, an East German amateur disk jockey, the two fell in love, had one romantic night and were separated again by the circumstances. Trying to rejoin his love, Jenny's father was killed by East German border guards. We switch to 2006. Jenny, hoping for a career in radio journalism, decides to travel to East Germany to research the story of her parents. A freak accident - suspension of disbelief is required here - throws her back into the year 1974. You guessed it, the time is just before the pivotal moment and Jenny realizes that she may now have the chance to change the course of history - for better or for worse, as her interference could well mean that her parents never got together at all. The first obstacle is that her father-to-be finds her - the 30-something apparent party functionary - much more attractive than this schoolgirl from the west that is to be her mother.
