An art dealer befriends a genie whom he frees from a lamp which he has been imprisoned with by an evil wizard for 2000 years for the accidental death of the evil wizard's daughter when the art dealer is fired by his greedy and corrupt boss. Bernard Bottle, a mild mannered art buyer, is fired by his greedy boss, abandoned by his girlfriend and discovers a genie in an old bottle. The genie immediately embraces the modern world and helps Bernard on the side. Christmas nears, and art dealer Bernard (Alan Cumming) is having the worst day of his life: his lover leaves him, and his conniving boss, Charles (Rowan Atkinson), fires him for having high principles. Bernard's luck takes an upswing, though, when he finds an old lamp and out pops Josephus (Lenny Henry), a hip genie. After the initial culture shock, Bernard and Josephus quickly bond. But when Bernard wishes for the "Mona Lisa," these unlikely pals find themselves pursued by the police.

A young boy is given a watch that can stop time by "The Postman". The story of a young boy who is given a special gift by "The Postman" a member of the "Time Keeping Society". Bernard, late for his best friend Karen's birthday party, finds everything goes wrong with him and he just can't keep time. However after loosing all hope, a rainbow appears and at the end is a golden watch. The watch stops time. Bernard is then able to keep time. With the help of his friend Karen, his cousin Lucy and the mysterious "Postman", he is able to fight crime, help people as well as gain a few enemies.
