Josh and his pals now find themselves in the center of the earth, in a cavern full of mushroom people. They call themselves the 'Shrooms, and Azabeth, mistakes them for a delicious treat from her planet and takes a huge bite out of one of the taller 'Shrooms, which poisons her, leaving her in a weak and disoriented state. Now it is up to Josh, Irwin, Prism, and new friend Porcini, the Italian 'Shroom, to find the cure to the mushroom disease and save Azabeth from certain death. The journey won't be easy, however, because they will face many challenges within the deep, dark caverns. Nightmare Hollow, which is off-limits to all of the 'Shrooms, is an especially dangerous part of the caverns, and just exactly where our lovable heroes must journey to. It is there that they will learn of the history of time itself and confront the most frightening foe yet...the Muncher!

Ed is the last one left and is brought to scientists who explain they accidentally brought the four into the future with their time machine and need to restore history. Ed refuses to die again and tries to escape, but falls from a building to his death, just as he did in 1951.

For Czech version: One day, the youngest of four boys finds a fossil of trilobite. So his older friend takes him on journey through prehistory, up to the beginning of time, to see real live trilobites. 1955 Czech Original Version 1966 US Dubbed Version with additional footage The story involves four teenage comrades who take a rowboat along a "river of time" that flows into a mysterious cave and emerges on the other side onto a strange, primeval landscape. The boy actors were Josef Lukà_ (Petr, the main narrator), Petr Herrmann (Tonik, who also narrates in part), Zden k Hustàk (Jenda), and VladimÕr Bejval (Jirka). As they make their way upstream, they realise that they are travelling progressively farther back in time, and facing various perils as they do so (but learning much about prehistoric life in the process).
