Cmdr Ed Straker and Col Virginia Lake disappear and are discovered unconscious next to a dead body of a Shado operative (Turner). Col Foster and co then try to understand what has happened -- from here on the story is largely told in flashback. Straker and Lake observe a UFO which they follow but then seems to 'buzz' them. They radio for help but are unable to contact SHADO HQ. After racing back they discover the base and surrounding area are frozen in time and space. They move through the base and see everyone frozen including all the equipment. On entering the film set part of the base Straker observes and tries to move a stool fixed in mid air between too set builders which he hits then with a stick (they are able to pick up and manipulate the stick). At this point he realises there are inconsistencies in what exactly is frozen (they are also able to use a lift) and surmises it is all part of an Alien plot. In the lot they meet Turner who has become Alien accomplice. He tells Straker of the powers they have given him and a device he's planted in the base disabling SHADO HQ. A UFO is now hovering around the base and Straker tries to take it out. Turner is too powerful and can actually skip around in time and space faster than the eye can see and prevents this. A chase and battle ensue with a power mad Turner foolishly taunting that he is never where you observe him to be. Finally Straker out smarts him and is able to destroy the UFO. (frozen in time)

To return home and restore his cursed crew, a great hero of space and his child companions must find the Kingdom of Hades against all evil opposition. It is the 31st Century and Ulysses is a famous explorer and pilot in space but he desires to go home to Earth to his wife. He takes his son Telemachus and Telemachus's new robot gift Nono with him and takes the space-ship Odyssey with computer Shyrka and his crew. En route to Earth Telemachus is kidnapped and is taken to the Cyclops, a huge robot with one eye and is worshiped by a cult. Ulysses destroys the Cyclops and as well as rescuing Telemachus takes Numenor and Yumi, two children from the planet Zotra with them. However this enrages the ancient gods of Olympus, still existing after all this time, and in revenge, puts the crew and Numenor into a deep sleep, wipe the location of Earth from Shyrka's memory, and put the Odyssey in the universe of Olympus. The only way out is for Ulysses to find the "Kingdom Of Hades", but Ulysses, Telemachus, Yumi, Nono and Shyrka have to defend against the Trident - the forces of the gods and the dubious community of the Universe.

On his way back to Earth from Troy, Ulysses happens upon a mysterious uncharted planet. A bright ball of energy invades The Odyssey and takes Telemacus back to the planet. The population is blind, but they kidnap children to sacrifice them, taking their energy and feeding it to the Great Cyclops that helps them to see. Upon destroying the Great Cyclops, Ulysses is banished by the Gods Posieden and Zeus to the Universe of Olympus, cursed to wander uncharted regions until he finds the Kingdom of Hades. Only then will he be allowed to return to Earth.
